This is a story of a man who solobuild his boat and sailing singlehanded ocean races.
My name is Thomas. I live with my family in Switzerlnd near the beautiful lakes but some hours far from the sea. Since my early childhood I was fascinated by the vastness of the oceans and the seafaring explorers of modern age. So watersports and sailing become my passion. Soon i`m turning 50 and that`s the time to make dreams come true. Building a boat and sailing the oceans with it means everything to me in addition to my family.
The authorization to the class races requires a build documentation. In the Builders Blog you can follow the construction of my ClassGlobe 5.80 boat. There are lots of information that may help you understand or even getting started with this project. Please feel free to contact me for further more (thomas@minisailer.ch).
The additional sites are dedicated to other topics like preparation for the races, sponsoring and small boat cruising in general.
You can find more information about the ClassGlobe 5.80 association and the races here. http://www.classglobe580.com
“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.”
